Beach Buddies

Here is another card made using the free Sale-a-bration stamp set called Friendly Seagulls.

For this card, I was teaching the technique of water spray on sponged background. We started with a basic white panel 10.5 x 8 cm and used a blending brush to sponge on Azure Afternoon ink. Then we used a water spritzer to spray on one good spray of water. The spray creates fine water drops which you can’t see straight away but as the card dries it becomes apparent.

We then matted our panel onto Lemon Lolly card (10.5 cm square) with the top and bottom edges torn.

We cut a piece of Pecan Pie card for the wharf piles. 9.5 x 2.2 cm. We embossed with the timber embossing folding and sponged with Pecan Pie ink. We cut into two portions. One 5.5 cm long and one 4 cm long. Corner the ends and tied Crumb Cake baker’s twine around. Our Seagulls were fussy cut to sit on top.

Friendly Seagulls Card

I made this card to show my team how to use the sketches on page 22 of our annual catalogue as inspiration for them to make their own cards.

You can see the full video where I show the original sketch here. https://youtu.be/G3Yk0k3HP4o?si=zV14k70dyrQ2k8bX

The inside of my card has a stamp from the Ice Cream Swirl stamp set.

Floating Flowers card

This is a fun pop up card using the free SAB designer series paper and the Hues of Happiness bundle.

The flowers are all stamped with versamark and heat embossed with either black or white embossing powder.

I embossed them on various pieces of coloured cardstock so I had the colours I wanted without needing to colour any in. It is a quick and effective way to add colour.

Dainty Flowers Sale-a-bration Paper

I made this sympathy card using the free (with qualifying order) Dainty Flowers DSP and the matching dies from the January to April mini catalogue.

The dies are delicate and can be a little fiddly to put together but it is worth it. I die cut a lilac flower and a couple of yellow daisies to complement the flowers on the DSP. I added a bit of ink with a sponge dauber so they matched the ones on the paper. The lovely blue background is paper from the same pack.

Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper

What beautiful rich paper this is. I love it. And even more so when it is free! Yes this is one of the Sale-a-bration free items that you can choose as your gift with NZ $110 spend.

I whipped up a card this afternoon, using basic black as my base with a 5.5 cm strip of white card and a 4.5 cm strip of the patterned paper. The strip of paper that I used was this Coral coloured pattern and on the reverse were the lovely Dahlias that I fussy cut out.

I added some bling, bakers twine and a sentiment and voila, card made! It only took me 10 minutes.

Check back tomorrow for some more Sale-a-bration card ideas.

Shadow box card

This was a fairly quick card to make for my group of ladies. It features the free Sale-a-bration papers, called Rings of Love. The sentiment stamps come from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and the flower image inside the card is another free Sale-a-bration item called Perfect Pomegranate.

This is such a great fun fold because even though it has the depth and box shape to it when it is open, it still will fold flat for posting.

Sale-a-bration Blog Hop

It’s Sale-a-bration time again which means for every NZ$110 you spend, you get to choose a free product from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. I am joining with my fellow South Pacific Demonstrator Council members from last year to showcase one of the Sale-a-bration products.

I have decided to show you the free notecard and envelope pack. They are gorgeous! I feel that the notecards are often overlooked and I want to persuade you as to why they are a good choice. They are called notecards but they are actually an American full sized card. Which means they are slightly higher than our South Pacific sized cards and not quite as wide. Here is a comparison photo…

The cards measure 14 x 10.8 cm when folded in half.

There are 20 cards and 20 envelopes. The envelopes are all the same, in Soft Seafoam with lovely subtle white printing on the front bottom corner and on the envelope flap. Inside the flap is a scattering of pool party small leaf images. There are two different card designs. 10 cards in pool party with a darker pool party leaf background and 10 cards in soft seafoam with a white leaf background. The leaf images coordinate perfectly with the Splendid Day Suite in the annual catalogue.

Because I didn’t have the Splendid Day Suite, I decided to use the Forever Ferns bundle. The colours and patterns were delicate and it needed a stamp set that also had delicate leaf designs. I think this bundle worked perfectly. I kept to the colours in the cards but added in Sweet Sorbet to give it a little lift. I used the white seambinding ribbon as it is also soft and delicate.

On the soft seafoam card, I added a little bit of white embossing, just to carry through the white on soft seafoam look.

The embellishments I used were the in colour matte decorative dots. All the green dots are technically Parakeet Party in colour but because they are ombre dots, I was able to use the lightest green and it toned in well with the soft seafoam background.

I hope these projects inspired you to give this card and matching envelope set a go. I am certainly happy with how these wedding and thank you cards turned out.
