School Day Embellishments

One of my customers was telling me recently how hard it was for her to find any school related embellishments for her scrapbooking. I told her that I always make my own embellishments.

I decided to do a few for her to get her going.

The apple is a 2 1/4″ circle with the top and bottom cut out slightly with just a curve of my scissors. The leaf is from the sunflowers dies. The ruler is diecut from a retired bundle called Nailed it. The scissors I drew by hand on scrap paper and then cut them to how I wanted them. I used the retired bird punch to punch the centre of the handles first, then cut around that. Did you notice the little screw on the scissors?

The screw is a stamp also from the Nailed it bundle.

The paintbrush I handcut and then used a corner rounder punch to do the end. The top of the paintbrush is from the bird punch. The crayons are just a strip of card, measuring 7 x 1.2 cm. The top of the crayon is punched out using the top of one of the retired gleaming ornaments punch duo. Then I just trimmed a narrow slither of each side, so that it looked more like the tip of a crayon. The letter and numbers are from the Playful Alphabets dies.

I think the bright colours work really well on these embellishments. I used Balmy Blue, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Gorgeous Grape, Pacific Point, Smokey Slate, Pear Pizzazz, Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, So Saffron, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.

Senior Years Bowls Card

This was an easy card to make. It just uses the Senior Years stamp set and some circle punches.

The DSP is called World of Good. It is a world map pattern but I thought it made great grass. The blue card is Seaside Spray.

I also used a chalk marker to draw circles on the lawn bowl.

I know these seniors are wearing their good clothes instead of their bowling whites but I figured they could if they were playing at a party and not at a tournament.

Let me know what you think of think of these cards. Do you know anyone who likes bowls that also might like to receive one of these cards?

Leave a comment and I will choose someone to send this card to.

Nurse Card – Punch Art

I was asked recently to make a card for a nurse. I had a look for ideas on pinterest and there were quite a few nurse cards, all very similar to mine that you can see below.
It is a very simple card to make and my one uses the layering ovals dies from Stampin’ Up! It also uses a variety of small circle punches and the new Hot Air Balloon punch. The stitching detail on this card is made using the straight stitch die from the Nested Labels die set. The little heart is from the dog punch. The pocket is a strip of card with the corners rounded using the envelope punch board.
I lightly dauber-ed all the blue edges using Balmy Blue ink to add definition.

Punch balloon shape first, then die cut with an oval as shown. All the grey pieces of the stethoscope are made using the curved edges that you get when you cut frames using two oval dies.
Use the single straight line die to create stitching detail on this fun card.

Dobby Punch Art

Punch Art made using current Stampin’ Up! punches for a birthday card for my niece.
The punch art guide is shown below.
I used the Pretty Label punch to do the neckline of the shirt and then trimmed away the bumps to make a full curve. I trimmed curves at the sides for armholes and cut a slightly wavy line along the bottom of the shirt as well.
The punched and handcut pieces were all sponged daubered with matching ink.
Face, body etc is Crumb Cake, Shirt is Mossy Meadow.
The stamp set used was “Magical Mermaid”.

I like this Dobby better, however it does feature a retired sentiment from the “In the Stars” stamp set
